I love this unique place! Some people may think that it's just (old?) hostel, but it is an unique well maintained art place with upcycle philosophy, where some old things got a second life. You can read more here about each piece of the interior on their site. I've been here once randomly and so much liked this place that decided to come here back again, but with the whole family.
I chose the room because of the pictures that was provided but I was shocked to arrived and see the actual room. Didn’t look anything like what I saw. The room has its own sink which was good. It was hot in the room with no fan or AC.. And if you left the window open you will hear the noise from outside including the trains that run. The noise ran through the building. So you could hear people talking and doors opening and closing. Not for light sleepers. My room was close to the shower/toilet and the squeaking floor was not nice every time some went in and out. It was also very small. No towels were provided in the toilet to wipe your hands after you washed them. The good thing about it was the location, 10min walk from Salzburg station. They provide towels and a little restaurant downstairs and easy check-in with code. It wasn’t worth the price I paid unfortunately.
The floors were dirty and the room was tiny. The only highlights were the clean bathroom and the cozy, thick blanket. However, the pillows offered zero support (it felt like having no pillow at all). There's a kitchen area, but overall, this place is way overpriced for what you get.
I still dont know that this hotel is just brilliant or a full of mess. If you need a cheap room for one night just to sleep and you dont have any big dreams, its perfect. The walls are like paper, the smell is like my grandma, and the style is like nobody touched it 40 years ago...But in need, its okay. Anyway i didnt have sour flavour about the stay, i needed exatly that type of shit. Oh yeah, the communication is just really easy and helpful.
I overall had a decent stay but wouldn’t stay again, here’s why: CONTEXT: I booked a month in advance and paid about $130 Canadian for 1 night. Stayed at the beginning of July 2025. PROS: - Excellent proximity to Salzburg HBF Train Station. 10 min walk away. - Relatively QUIET. I did not hear anyone at night. Noise was your good especially for a hostel. (note I stayed on a Monday which could effect that) - Easiest check in / check out process ever (just use a code) - no check in fees - Aesthetic / Design: I do like the designs of the rooms. One of the reasons I picked it. - Proximity to Mirabell Gardens (5 min walk) - close enough to Old Town - This was one of cheapest options available for a private room - A private sink in your room is beneficial - Free public Transport included - Cleaning staff was friendly / accommodating CONS - Mainly **NO AC** for those who care about this. Considering it was a relatively cool summer day (15-20 C) it was shocking how hot the room was, couldn’t imagine it on an actual hot day. - The pillows are tiny and uncomfortable - The shared bathroom / shower is not good. Check attached photo. It’s a tiny shower room with a toilet and sink thrown in. The photos didn’t accurately reflect this. - while the hostel is relatively quiet, you will probably wake up once or twice from the vibrations of the trains going by. Yes it’s adjacent to the train tracks. - Located in a less vibrant / quieter area of town (not necessarily a bad thing but good to note) - no reception - Luggage storage is just a room with shelves. Not a good choice for those who maybe be worried about their possessions. Overall. This wasn’t the right place for ME and what I’m looking for in a stay. That’s my mistake maybe. But it could be right for those who usually stay in hostels.
